1. So far it’s been a busy year for NFD. You’ve finished a UK tour with Mortiis - 12 gigs in a row. Was the tour a success for you?
Yes, we had a great time; the guys from Mortiis were cool. We've probably done more gigs in mainland Europe than here in the UK so it was a good chance to go round our own country and let people hear us. All lot of people came up to us after gigs and told us how much they enjoyed the set. We even had some people travel over from Germany, as you know :) to some of the shows. That meant a lot to us!!
2. After you toured Germany and the Netherlands as a headliner fans expected the same for the UK. Are there any plans for a “proper” UK NFD tour?
We've been doing some headling shows over here; I expect there will be more lot more to come. Probably towards the end of the year!
3. You seemed to get a long quite well with Umbra et Imago on the tour earlier this year. You even performed a song with them together in Essen. Any plans for cooperation between the two bands?
It's been talked about! We have plans to do some collaboration with other bands we've played with as well!
4. Tell us a bit more about that January/February tour. Did you enjoy the tour in general?
Yep, it was an important time for the band. It gave a good chance for the live band to get really tight and improve the bands general performance level. We feel that tour really help us to rock out more as a unit. Present one solid front.
We also picked up a lot of new fans on the way. I think every one had a good time. There were some freaky moments, get stuck in blizzards on the way to Austria. Overturned cars and lorries everywhere. Some of us wandered whether we would make it out alive!! It was a great fun in the end. We came back with loads of funny stories!
5. Is it easy to calm down after a tour and get back in a sort of normal life?
Mmm, what’s normal!! LOL .This year hasn't been normal at all; we've been working on the band in one way or another nearly every day this year. Being on the road is a lot of fun, and a full on experience. Different city or country every day. Things seem a little boring when u get back for a few days then you’re onto something new!!!
6. Last autumn NFD released their debut album “No Love Lost” The album sees a re-release this May with a bonus live CD. Who came up with the idea of a second release?
Jungle initially put the idea forward, then we jumped in and took over as always!!
7. Where was the live CD recorded?
All over the place!!! Bits from here and there and everywhere. It’s hard to remember what bit comes from where now. We took loads of recordings we had and stuck them all in the computer and glued it all together with stick tape.LOL. We had to do a few overdubs but nothing to serious!!
8. How important is playing live for NFD anyway?
Very, we want to be a band known for taking our music to people. Not just for producing CDs!!!
9. And what makes a good NFD show for you?
Simple! The band and the audience having a good time :)
10. Give us a sneak preview about what we can expect from NFD later this year?
We’re now well onto writing the new album for release next year. Only a few more songs to go. We are going into the studio straight after Mera Luna and will be finished recording and mixing by mid October. There will be an EP first then the Album. Hopefully a video out before Christmas too. And of course lots more gigging!!!
Thanks for the interview. See you later this year !!
